🍿 Popcorn in the Thermomix
Making popcorn in the Thermomix is a fun idea, but standard Thermomix models are not designed to safely pop popcorn kernels directly in the bowl because the kernels can jump around at high heat and the lid/steam system isn’t intended for this use.
For the best results, use your Thermomix to make the flavored butter or seasoning, then pop the kernels separately on the stovetop or in a suitable popcorn maker.
🍿 Easy Thermomix Popcorn
Ingredients
- 80 g popcorn kernels
- 20–30 g butter
- ½ teaspoon fine salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar, optional
Method
1. Pop the kernels
Pop the popcorn kernels using a covered saucepan or popcorn maker according to its instructions.
2. Make the buttery topping
Add the butter to the Thermomix bowl.
Heat for 2 minutes / 60°C / Speed 1, or until melted.
3. Season
Add the salt and, if making sweet popcorn, the sugar. Mix for 10 seconds / Speed 2.
4. Combine
Place the freshly popped popcorn in a large bowl and drizzle over the melted seasoned butter.
Toss well until evenly coated.
🍫 Chocolate Popcorn
For a delicious chocolate version, melt 80 g chocolate in the Thermomix at 50°C / Speed 2 for about 2–3 minutes, stirring until smooth. Drizzle over freshly popped popcorn and allow it to set.
🍯 Caramel Popcorn
For caramel popcorn, make a caramel sauce separately and pour it over freshly popped popcorn, then spread it on a lined baking tray and allow it to cool and set.
Tip: For extra-crispy popcorn, avoid adding too much butter or liquid seasoning directly to the popcorn.
